A Day in the Life of … a Senior Flow Advisor at Tasktop

Posted by

Welcome back to the second installment of ‘A Day in the Life of a Tasktopian’. This week, we’re hopping across the pond to the UK to meet one of our amazing Senior Flow Advisors, Laksh Ranganathan, to learn more about how Laksh works across multiple time zones, while maintaining a work-life-balance.

How do you start your day before work?

My mornings are typically dedicated to my family and include the usual things that you would expect. We wake up the child (the child wakes us up most mornings), drink coffee (we love coffee in our household), eat breakfast, and get the little one ready for nursery (that’s daycare for my North American friends). Between all this, I tend to sneak a quick look at my emails and perhaps the news. When I don’t have a morning meeting, I try to get a quick session in the gym before I start work. Huge thanks to Tasktop for supporting this by providing a fitness allowance to keep us motivated.

What is your role at Tasktop?

Until last week, my official title was Senior Solutions Consultant. I started at Tasktop, primarily onboarding new U.S. East Coast and EMEA Integration Hub customers onto our technology. From day one, however, I’ve had a multi-dimensional role; from training customers, deploying some complex use cases on Tasktop products, working with the product development teams as the customer advocate to advise on features requested by customers, to spearheading a new service offering, the list is endless. Over the past few months (and as reflected in my new role as Senior Flow Advisor), I have been supporting customers by providing coaching and consulting on the Flow Framework™, and applying those concepts to help them pivot to a product model for IT.

I am a problem solver at heart, and Tasktop has given me the platform to learn, contribute and apply my capabilities in a wide variety of functions. Over the last two years, I have worked on countless initiatives and have worked with almost every team, from engineering, product development, sales, marketing, to business development. I sometimes feel a more accurate description of my role is to do what it takes to help our customers get value from Tasktop’s products.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I wish I had an easy answer for this! I am based just outside London, UK. So, as you can imagine, I work across a few time zones (Europe, UK, North America). Everyday is different, and that’s one of the things I love about working at Tasktop. I have the flexibility to mould my day as needed, and yet maintain a work-life balance.

I typically start my workday between 8-9 AM to address anything new that may have come up overnight. Mondays and Tuesdays tend to be heavily focused on EMEA customer meetings. On other days, my mornings tend to be channelled towards internal activities, like training sessions that I’m delivering, as well as a sprinkling of customer calls. Days that I don’t have a packed morning, I try to sneak some time for the gym, to get some activity points and fire up those endorphins. After lunch, my time tends to be dedicated to North American customers and internal conversations with the other Tasktop teams. On Fridays, when possible, I try to focus more on self-improvement related themes.

Greatest accomplishment at Tasktop so far?

There are a number of accomplishments that I am proud of. The one that I cherish the most, is not an accomplishment, but a recognition award that I received last year called “You Are Tasktop.” For someone who had only been in the organization for only 15 months, I was truly humbled and honoured to receive this peer-voted award, and the chance to stand among Tasktopians that I respect and admire.

Go-to workday lunch?

My lunch is always something quick and convenient, like a soup or a sandwich, boring, I know!  Once a month, I have lunch with my husband at one of the local pubs, which I always look forward to. We are lucky to have a few good ones around where we live.

What’s your favourite Tasktop memory?

My favourite Tasktop memory was the Las Vegas kick-off last year. It was a great opportunity to meet and socialize with the entire go-to-market team, many of them for the first time.

How would you describe working at Tasktop in one sentence?

I can truly say every day is a new exciting adventure, with one of the smartest, supportive and fun bunch of people I have ever worked with, no challenge is too big.
