Tasktop Newsletter November 2011

We closed out November with a new release of our award winning Tasktop Dev 2.2, and a major release of our incredibly popular Tasktop Sync 2.0 product. We want to thank all of our enterprise customers and users who put our products through the paces and who show patience as we continue to evolve and improve our products.

Coming up in a week's time, Tasktop CEO Mik Kersten will be giving a free webinar that will show you how quickly you can get started with the new Tasktop Sync 2.0 in order to connect your ALM stack in real time. Register today for the "Modernize your ALM Architecture with Tasktop Sync 2.0" webinar.

Tasktop Releases Much Anticipated Tasktop Sync 2.0

Based primarily on feedback from our customer base in working with Mylyn and Tasktop Dev, we created Tasktop Sync, an enterprise-scale ALM synchronization solution tool built on the industry-standard Eclipse Mylyn ALM integration framework. Tasktop Sync has met with tremendous industry enthusiasm and is currently a finalist in the 2011 Jolt Awards.

This major release of Tasktop Sync introduces a variety of improvements to further increase the scalability and enterprise-grade synchronization capabilities while offering a variety of new functionality to make setup and administration significantly easier.

Tasktop Sync 2.0 provides new wizards and tools that allow ALM architects and administrators to connect to ALM repositories, introspect repository schemas, and connect previously isolated tools with ALM artifact mappings. In addition to synchronization, Tasktop Sync 2.0 provides a new lifecycle linking facility built on the OSLC ALM interoperability protocols allowing Tasktop Sync to act as a broker for connecting ALM artifacts across Tasktop Certified™ connectors.

For example, organizations using IBM Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools in their ALM stack, such as Rational Team Concert (RTC) and Rational Requirements Composer (RRC), can now link to artifacts across our supported third party and open source ALM tools. This new feature extends Tasktop Sync's bi-directional synchronization facilities to support live linking of ALM artifacts, in a way similar to how social networking tools embed each other's feeds.

Unlike previous approaches to ALM synchronization, Tasktop Sync provides real-time synchronization, automated conflict resolution, and support for over two dozen ALM tools including IBM Rational Team Concert, HP ALM and Quality Center, Bugzilla, JIRA, and Microsoft Team Foundation Server.

Tasktop Sync Named a Finalist in 2011 Jolt Awards

Tasktop Sync has been named a finalist for the 2011 Dr. Dobb's Jolt Product Excellence Awards, which showcase products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the task of creating software faster, easier, and more efficient. It's an honor to have been named a finalist, and we hope to take the top spot when the winner is announced on December 15th, 2011.
