Tasktop Technologies is a privately held company that is committed to building software that helps make people and teams more productive by reducing the information overload faced daily by computer users through the introduction of task-focused tools and interfaces. With a task-focused approach, less really does become more.
Executive Team
Mik Kersten is the President, CTO and a co-founder of Tasktop Technologies. Mik is also the lead of the Eclipse Mylyn project, a committer on the AspectJ project and a member of the Eclipse Architecture Council.
Mik is a leading authority on task-based work and a popular speaker on the Eclipse and Mylyn technologies. He also has a history of open-source tool development having implemented the first tool support for aspect-oriented programming tool support with plug-ins for JBuilder, NetBeans, Visual Studio, and Emacs. He conceived of the task-focused interface technology and created Mylyn while completing his PhD at the University of British Columbia. Mik's passion is building tools that offload our brains and make it easier to get creative work done.
Gail Murphy is CEO and a co-founder of Tasktop Technologies. Gail also holds an appointment as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia.
Gail is a co-creator of the task-based interface. Her research focuses on human-oriented software development tools that make developers more efficient and effective. She has been a keynote speaker at a number of software engineering conferences and has been the recipient of several research awards. Gail holds a PhD from the University of Washington.
Robert Elves is a co-founder of Tasktop Technologies, the Product Manager of the Tasktop software product line and a committer on the Eclipse Mylyn project.
In addition to building extensive parts of the Mylyn open-source tool, Robert has been active in communicating the benefits of the technology through talks, articles and training sessions. Robert holds a MSc from the University of Victoria where his research domain was locomotion in information spaces, with a focus on helping developers navigate source code.
